International Car insurance for expatriates provides indemnity following physical damage due to collision, fire, theft and even political violence. The program offers borderless coverage with physical damage and liability coverage against every vehicle-related transportation hazard. The international car insurance adjusts to requirements that vary among countries, provides for worldwide liability jurisdictions, and provides for efficient claim settlement and in hard currency.
The local mandatory third party insurance on the other hand provides for the minimum cover required by the law in Kenya. It compensates third parties following injury, third party death and or third party property damage caused by the motor vehicle. That is, policy covers costs arising from an accident where the policy holder is held liable.
It is recommended that in addition to the international car insurance which compensates the insured following physical damage, fire, theft, political violence and excess TPO liability, the mandatory local Third Party Only insurance be taken up.
